Trumpeting a crane hear is impressive. Listen to 1000 cranes is
unforgettable! In the National Park in the fall at the same time
hold up to 45,000 cranes. Trumpeting, flying, resting, and some
lead (on the retreat in the spring to even their spectacular
mating dance).
The cranes are on the train. Their breeding areas are located
primarily in Scandinavia and North Eastern Europe. There, they
can nibble but not much fat as an energy reserve for the trip.
As already large and heavy birds, they were too heavy to fly.
Therefore, the large undisturbed resting place in the national
park as a way to "refuel" are so important.
4000 to 12,000 Kilometer every crane shall return every year to
recover from its summer habitat in the wintering area and go
back again. The trip takes place on narrow, finicky unobserved
migration. One of these routes leads through the National
Boddenlandscape.
